What did being named a finalist mean to you and your team?
We were honoured to be selected as a finalist in the ESPIC Care Awards. Being recognised alongside so many dedicated and compassionate individuals, all making a genuine difference to people’s lives, meant a great deal. We were grateful for the opportunity and to attend such a special evening.

How has this recognition impacted your service or the people you support?
Winning has had a meaningful impact on our service. It has boosted team morale, giving staff a strong sense of pride and validation for the care and dedication they show every day. The recognition reinforces the value of our work and motivates us to continue striving for excellence.

What would you say to others in the care sector thinking of entering this year?
We would strongly encourage others across the care sector to put themselves forward. Entering is a great opportunity to reflect on the incredible work delivered every day—something that is often overlooked.

What did being named a finalist mean to you and your team?
“Being named a finalist meant so much more to me than I ever expected. I genuinely couldn’t believe my Managers had put me forward, and I was even more surprised when I was shortlisted. I always aim to do my best in my role, so for that effort to be recognised in this way was incredibly meaningful.

It made me feel valued and more confident in what I do every day. For our team, it was an exciting and proud moment. The awards night itself was nerve-wracking but also really exciting. Even though only one person from our team won, we were all proud to be finalists together and to represent our service.”

How has this recognition impacted your service or the people you support?
“This recognition has reinforced how important my role is and reminded me that the care and effort I give truly makes a difference. It has motivated me to continue supporting the people I care for with the same dedication, while also striving to improve and grow my skills. I feel more confident in my work, which positively reflects in the way I support others each day.”

What would you say to others in the care sector thinking of entering this year?
“I would strongly encourage anyone in the care sector to enter. Even being nominated or shortlisted is incredibly rewarding and validating. It’s a great opportunity to recognise the hard work that often goes unnoticed in our roles. Being a finalist has motivated me to keep improving, and if I’m lucky enough to be nominated again, I’ll continue working hard in the hope of achieving even more. The experience alone is something to be very proud of.”

“Being named Highly Commended meant a great deal to me. It was a proud moment not only personally, but also for the team, as it recognised the effort we all put into developing skills and improving the quality of care we provide.

Since receiving this recognition, I have progressed into a Registered Manager role, which has been a significant step in my career. The experience gave me increased confidence in my abilities and reinforced my commitment to continuous learning and development, both for myself and for my team.

I believe the recognition also had a positive impact on the service, as it highlighted the importance of investing in staff development and striving for high standards. It helped boost morale and encouraged a culture where learning and improvement are valued.

To anyone thinking of entering this year, I would say—go for it. The process itself is a great opportunity to reflect on your achievements and the difference you make. It’s a chance to celebrate the hard work that often goes unrecognised in our sector.”
