Excellence in International Recruitment Award

This award recognises both outstanding internationally recruited individuals working in the care sector, and organisations that demonstrate exceptional commitment to supporting and integrating international colleagues across East Sussex and Brighton & Hove.

For individuals, the award celebrates care workers who make a meaningful difference through their dedication, skills and lived experience—enhancing care quality, strengthening teams and contributing to workforce sustainability.

For organisations, the award highlights those that go above and beyond to create inclusive, supportive environments for international staff. This may include strong induction programmes, pastoral support, cultural integration and a clear commitment to ethical recruitment.

Overall, this award recognises the vital contribution of global talent to the local care sector.


Criteria

Nominations should clearly demonstrate:

Contribution to Service

  • For individuals: evidence of dedication, performance and specific achievements
  • For organisations: initiatives that support international recruits to succeed

Impact on Service Users

  • Clear examples of how care delivery has improved outcomes, wellbeing or experience

Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Promotes strong team culture through communication, support and inclusivity
  • For organisations: fosters a welcoming and inclusive working environment

Professional Growth and Skills

  • For individuals: commitment to development, training and building expertise
  • For organisations: opportunities for international staff to grow and progress

Integration and Inclusion

  • Demonstrates successful integration into the workplace and community
  • Supports cultural understanding, inclusion and shared learning

Exceptional Impact

  • Evidence of something outstanding that sets the nominee apart

Eligibility

  • Individuals must have worked in a UK care setting for a minimum of 12 months
  • Must hold a valid visa and be sponsored by a UK employer licensed to issue Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS)
  • Sponsoring organisation must have a CQC rating of Good or Outstanding
  • Organisations must hold a valid sponsor licence and have been supporting international recruitment for a minimum of 12 months

Supporting Evidence

Where possible, include supporting documents such as testimonials, references or performance evidence to strengthen the nomination.


Submission Requirements


How it Works

Nominations will be reviewed by an independent Awards Panel.

The panel will shortlist three finalists. One winner and two highly commended awards will be announced on the night. In the event of a tie, the Head Judge will have the casting vote.

All nominators will be informed of the outcome.

The Awards Panel is made up of three independent judges, plus a guest judge for this category with expertise in international recruitment.
