This role is open to Care Providers and Registered Managers
Organisation: Registered Care Association (RCA) Limited, trading as East Sussex, Brighton & Hove Partners in Care.
Role Type: Volunteer, Committee Member
Remuneration: Unpaid (reasonable expenses may be reimbursed)
Location: East Sussex/Brighton and Hove / hybrid
Time Commitment: Approximately 5 – 8 days per year including:
- 9 monthly online meetings (no meeting in August)
- 1 x Half Day Strategy Review and Priority Setting (in-person)
- 1 x in-person Board meeting and AGM (in October)
- Representing the association at partner meeting, where appropriate, preparation time
Purpose of the Role
To bring current, practical sector expertise into the work of the Care Association by contributing to specific areas of activity (e.g. Quality, Workforce, Policy, or Safeguarding). Co-opted members provide insight grounded in frontline experience to support effective decision-making and sector representation.
Key Responsibilities
Committee Contribution
- Attend and actively participate in monthly Board/committee meetings
- Contribute specialist knowledge and current sector insight
- Support the development of recommendations to the Board
Sector Insight and Representation
- Provide up-to-date perspectives on operational challenges and opportunities in care delivery
- Share best practice and innovation from within the sector
- Represent the views of care providers and managers where appropriate
Quality and Improvement
- Contribute to discussions on quality standards, compliance, and continuous improvement
- Support development of guidance, resources, or initiatives for members
Policy and Influence
- Inform responses to consultations, policy developments, and regulatory changes
- Support the association’s advocacy work with commissioners and regulators
Collaboration and Engagement
- Work collaboratively with other committee members and Board representatives
- Engage constructively and respectfully in discussions
- Support events where possible
Person Specification
Essential
- Current experience as a care provider, registered manager, or senior leader in health and social care
- Strong understanding of care delivery (e.g. domiciliary, residential, supported living)
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g. CQC standards)
- Ability to contribute practical, solutions-focused insight
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to improving standards across the care sector
Desirable
- Experience of quality improvement or service development
- Involvement in inspections or compliance processes
- Understanding of workforce challenges and development
- Experience contributing to networks, forums, or professional groups
- Good communication and interpersonal skills

- Act in the best interests of the Care Association and its members
- Maintain confidentiality where required
- Declare any conflicts of interest
- Prepare for and contribute constructively to meetings
- Uphold the values and reputation of the organisation
- Attend two in-person Committee meetings per year and minimum 6 online meetings
Term of Appointment
- Initial term: [e.g. 1–3 years]
- Renewable subject to committee needs and continued eligibility at AGM
Induction and Support
- Induction provided including overview of the association and committee remit
- Ongoing support from committee Chair and staff (if applicable). Training offered

All members share a responsibility for promoting safeguarding, high-quality care, and person-centred practice within the sector.
