Dementia Care Award 2026

This award recognises outstanding commitment, compassion and innovation in supporting people living with dementia and their families.

It celebrates individuals, teams or organisations that demonstrate excellence in person-centred dementia care, deliver measurable impact, and show leadership in improving practice. Nominees will evidence a strong understanding of dementia, work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to integrated, coordinated care.


Eligibility

  • Open to individuals, teams or organisations delivering dementia care across community, residential, home care or voluntary sector settings
  • Must have been actively working in dementia care for a minimum of 12 months

Criteria

Nominees must demonstrate that they consistently deliver care that:

  • Upholds dignity, respect and autonomy
  • Reflects a deep understanding of individual life histories, preferences and cultural backgrounds
  • Promotes independence wherever possible
  • Demonstrates compassionate, empathetic communication
  • Applies evidence-based practice and current clinical guidance
  • Shows creativity and innovation in overcoming challenges
  • Contributes to continuous improvement in care delivery
  • Actively involves families and carers in care planning
  • Advocates for the needs of individuals and their support networks
  • Promotes dementia awareness, inclusion and understanding
  • Influences positive cultural change within care settings
  • Demonstrates measurable impact on outcomes, wellbeing or quality of life

Submission Requirements


How it Works

Nominations will be reviewed by an independent Awards Panel.

The panel will shortlist three finalists. One winner and two highly commended awards will be announced on the night. In the event of a tie, the Head Judge will have the casting vote.

All nominators will be informed of the outcome.

The Awards Panel is made up of three independent judges.
