Care Newcomer of the Year Award
This award recognises an outstanding new entrant to the care sector who, within a short period of time, is already delivering a high standard of care.
The nominee may be new to care or returning after at least two years away. They will demonstrate enthusiasm, professionalism and confidence in their role, alongside a strong commitment to learning and ongoing development. They will quickly have made a positive impact—both in the quality of care they provide and in how they contribute to their team.
Criteria
- Demonstrates how transferable skills (from previous roles, volunteering or life experience) have been applied effectively in care
- Shows a clear understanding of their role and responsibilities
- Evidences strong people skills and a genuine understanding of what good care means
- Demonstrates awareness of good practice, including a commitment to completing (or having completed) the Care Certificate
- Understands and respects the choices and preferences of people using services
- Shows empathy, compassion and responsiveness, particularly in emotionally sensitive situations
- Demonstrates willingness to learn and develop across different settings
- Shows clear commitment to ongoing career development
- Makes a positive contribution both individually and as part of a team
Eligibility
- Must have joined the care sector in East Sussex or Brighton & Hove within the past 12 months
- Open to individuals new to care or returning after an absence of at least two years
- Must be demonstrating strong performance in their role
Submission Requirements
- Nominations must not exceed 500 words
- Completed forms should be submitted to Administrator@espic.co.uk
How it Works
Nominations will be reviewed by an independent Awards Panel.
The panel will shortlist three finalists. One winner and two highly commended awards will be announced on the night. In the event of a tie, the Head Judge will have the casting vote.
All nominators will be informed of the outcome.
The Awards Panel is made up of three independent judges.
