Ancillary Worker / Team Award
Ancillary staff play a vital role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care. Often building strong relationships with the people they support, they understand individual needs, preferences and routines in ways others may not. Their attention to detail, professionalism and compassion help create safe, welcoming and respectful environments.
This award recognises individuals or teams working in ancillary roles—such as housekeeping, catering, administration and activities—who consistently go above and beyond. They demonstrate dignity, respect and a genuine commitment to improving the daily lives of clients, residents or service users, while also supporting colleagues and contributing positively to the wider team.
Criteria
- Demonstrates respect, dignity and professionalism towards clients, residents or service users, and their families or visitors
- Treats individuals as unique, showing a person-centred approach in all aspects of their role
- Provides a consistently high standard of service to both service users and colleagues
- Uses initiative to enhance support or improve the environment (include examples)
- Takes pride in their work and the impact they have on others
- Receives positive feedback from service users, colleagues or other relevant stakeholders
- Contributes to a high-quality, supportive service environment
Eligibility
Nominees must have been employed for at least six months in an ancillary role, including (but not limited to):
- Cooks / Chefs
- Cleaners / Housekeepers
- Handyperson / Maintenance
- Activities Co-ordinators
- Administrative Support
They should be able to demonstrate examples of excellence, initiative and positive impact, supported by feedback where possible.
How it Works
- Completed nominations should be submitted to Administrator@espic.co.uk
- Nominations must not exceed 500 words
- All entries will be reviewed by the Awards Panel
The panel will shortlist three finalists. One winner and two highly commended awards will be announced on the night. In the event of a tie, the Head Judge will have the casting vote.
All nominators will be notified of the outcome of their submission.
The Awards Panel is made up of three independent judges.
